ShiaNūr — Terms of Service

Please read these Terms of Service (“Terms”) carefully before using the ShiaNūr mobile application (“ShiaNūr” or the “App”).
By downloading, installing, accessing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the App.
The App is owned and operated by SHIANUR DIGITAL LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company (“Company”, “we”, “us”, or “our”).

1. Eligibility
You must comply with all applicable laws when using the App.
If you are under the age required to enter into legally binding agreements in your jurisdiction, you may use the App only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian where required by applicable law.
2. License
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, and revocable license to download, install, and use the App solely for your personal, non-commercial use.
This license does not transfer ownership of the App, its software, content, databases, trademarks, or any other intellectual property.
Except where expressly permitted by applicable law or these Terms, you may not reproduce, redistribute, sell, sublicense, modify, exploit, or create derivative works from the App.
3. Your Account
Most core features of ShiaNūr can be used without creating a named account. The App may create an anonymous account identifier to support functionality such as synchronization and saved progress.
Certain features may allow or require you to connect or create an account using Apple, Google, email, or another supported authentication method.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality and security of your account credentials and for activity occurring through your account.
You agree not to impersonate another person, intentionally provide misleading account information, or use another person's account without authorization.
You can request deletion of your account inside the App:

Account deletion is irreversible. Account-deletion requests remove access to your account and associated synchronized ShiaNūr data from our active systems, subject to limited information that may temporarily remain where necessary for security, legal compliance, dispute resolution, fraud prevention, or backup integrity.

4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
violate any applicable law or regulation while using the App;
interfere with, disrupt, damage, overload, or compromise the security, integrity, or availability of the App or its services;
attempt to gain unauthorized access to accounts, servers, databases, APIs, cloud services, or systems;
bypass, disable, defeat, or interfere with security measures, usage restrictions, scanner limits, rate limits, or other technical protections;
reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to extract the source code of the App except where expressly permitted by applicable law;
use bots, scripts, automated systems, scraping tools, or similar methods to misuse or place unreasonable demand on the App or its services;
misuse the Halal/Haram Dietary Scanner, product-reporting system, shared circles, or other interactive functionality;
impersonate another person or intentionally provide false or misleading account information;
upload, transmit, distribute, or introduce malicious code, malware, or other harmful technologies;
use the App to harass, threaten, abuse, deceive, or harm another person;
submit unlawful, obscene, hateful, threatening, abusive, infringing, or otherwise objectionable material through shared or reporting features;
attempt to manipulate product information, scanner results, community content, or shared data;
use the App in a way that infringes intellectual-property, privacy, publicity, or other rights of any person or organization; or
use the App or its infrastructure for unauthorized commercial exploitation, data extraction, or development of a competing dataset or service.
We may implement reasonable technical limits to protect ShiaNūr, maintain service availability, prevent abuse, and manage third-party service costs.
5. User Content and Community Features
Certain ShiaNūr features allow you to create, submit, store, or share content, including intentions, dedications, display names, circle names, and content associated with shared Khatma, Halqa, and Caravan features.
You retain ownership of content you create or submit.
By submitting content where processing, storage, display, moderation, or sharing is necessary to provide a ShiaNūr feature, you grant SHIANUR DIGITAL LLC a limited, non-exclusive license to host, process, reproduce, display, transmit, and moderate that content solely as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, and provide that feature.
You are responsible for content you submit and for ensuring that it complies with applicable law, these Terms, and any applicable community rules.
You must not submit shared content that is:
unlawful;
abusive or threatening;
obscene or sexually explicit;
hateful or discriminatory;
harassing;
fraudulent or intentionally deceptive;
infringing of another person's rights;
malicious or harmful; or
otherwise inappropriate for ShiaNūr's community features.
Shared content may be automatically filtered and may be reported by users.
Users can report content and, where supported, block other users.
Participation in shared community functionality may require acceptance of a separate community agreement or community rules. ShiaNūr maintains a zero-tolerance policy for objectionable and abusive content within these features.
We reserve the right to review, restrict, hide, or remove shared content and to warn, suspend, restrict, or permanently disable accounts or community access where reasonably necessary to enforce these Terms or community rules, protect users, or comply with applicable law.
6. Product Reports and Submitted Materials
The Halal/Haram Dietary Scanner may allow you to voluntarily submit a Report / Add Product request.
Depending on what you choose to submit, a report may contain information such as:
a barcode;
product name;
brand;
country;
a written message;
photographs you choose to attach; and
an email address if you choose to provide one.
You represent that you have the right to submit the materials you provide and that your submission does not violate applicable law or another person's rights.
You grant SHIANUR DIGITAL LLC a non-exclusive right to review, process, reproduce, analyze, and use submitted product information and photographs for purposes reasonably related to reviewing reports, correcting product information, improving scanner coverage, maintaining the dietary database, and providing ShiaNūr.
Submitting a report does not guarantee that a product will be added, changed, reviewed within a particular period, or assigned a particular scanner result.
Retention and privacy practices relating to product reports are described in our Privacy Policy.
7. Intellectual Property
The App, including its design, software, user interface, graphics, logos, trademarks, original text, original content, databases, data organization, and compilation of materials, is owned by or licensed to SHIANUR DIGITAL LLC and is protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.
Except where expressly permitted by these Terms or applicable law, you may not copy, reproduce, distribute, republish, modify, sell, sublicense, commercially exploit, or create derivative works from the App or protected ShiaNūr content.
Religious texts, Qurʾānic verses, supplications, narrations, recitations, translations, tafsīr materials, and other third-party or public materials remain subject to the rights, licenses, permissions, or legal status applicable to their respective sources.
Third-party product information, brands, trademarks, product photographs, and related data displayed through the Halal/Haram Dietary Scanner remain the property of their respective owners or data providers. Their appearance in ShiaNūr does not imply sponsorship or endorsement by those owners.
ShiaNūr, its logo, branding, and original design elements may not be used in a manner that suggests affiliation, sponsorship, or endorsement without our permission.
8. Religious and Educational Purpose
ShiaNūr is intended to provide devotional, educational, and informational resources relating to Twelver Shia Islam.
The App includes religious content and worship tools based on the sources and jurisprudential framework identified within ShiaNūr.
Where ShiaNūr provides jurisprudential guidance or dietary classifications, the App follows the stated rulings and methodology of Sayyid Ali al-Sistani within the scope implemented by ShiaNūr.
Some dietary classifications are drawn, where marked in the App, from Al-Maaref's halal guide.
The App is designed to assist personal worship, religious practice, and access to religious information. It does not establish an independent religious authority and is not a substitute for obtaining a ruling from the appropriate qualified religious authority when an individual case requires one.
Religious texts, translations, calculations, classifications, and informational material are provided with care, but users should consult an appropriate qualified authority when a matter depends on individual circumstances, uncertainty, or a ruling not covered by the App.
The App is not intended to provide medical, legal, emergency, or other professional advice.
9. Halal/Haram Dietary Scanner
The Sistani Halal/Haram Dietary Scanner is an informational tool designed to help users evaluate ingredient and product information according to the dietary-rule framework implemented by ShiaNūr.
Ingredient recognition
The scanner may use on-device text recognition and barcode recognition together with external services to identify, normalize, or structure ingredient and product information.
Automated text recognition may occasionally misread, omit, combine, or incorrectly interpret text appearing on packaging.
Users should compare scanner-recognized information with the physical product label when accuracy is important.
AI-assisted text processing
With your permission, which the App requests before the first use, recognized ingredient text may be processed using an external artificial-intelligence service to help separate ingredients from other packaging text, correct apparent recognition errors, and structure the ingredient list. If you do not give or later withdraw that permission, the scanner uses the text recognized on your device only. You can change this choice from the scan result. Implemented
The AI service does not independently determine the Islamic jurisprudential ruling shown by ShiaNūr.
Ingredient information produced through that processing is evaluated against ShiaNūr's dietary database and implemented Sistani jurisprudential rules (and, where marked, Al-Maaref's halal guide). The AI service does not issue any fiqh ruling or fatwa.
Barcode and third-party product information
Barcode results may rely on product information obtained from external databases and product-information providers.
Such information may be incomplete, outdated, incorrect, region-specific, or associated with a different formulation or package version.
Manufacturers may change ingredients, manufacturing processes, suppliers, formulations, or packaging without notice.
Accordingly, a barcode match does not guarantee that third-party database information is identical to the physical product in your possession.
Scanner results
Scanner results are based on:
the ingredient information available to the scanner;
successful recognition or retrieval of relevant product information;
ShiaNūr's supported ingredient corpus;
applicable conditions represented in the dietary-rule engine; and
the Sistani jurisprudential framework implemented by ShiaNūr.
A scanner result applies only to the information actually recognized or retrieved and evaluated.
Where ingredient identity, source, manufacturing process, animal origin, contamination, transformation, or another legally relevant fact cannot be established, the scanner may return a conditional, precautionary, unresolved, or otherwise qualified result rather than a definitive classification.
Users remain responsible for checking the physical product label and considering relevant circumstances when necessary.
The scanner is intended as a practical aid and does not replace consultation with the appropriate religious authority where a specific case requires an individual ruling.
10. Prayer Times, Qibla, Calendar and Worship Tools
ShiaNūr provides tools including prayer-time calculations, Qibla direction, Hijri calendar information, worship schedules, and reminders.
These features may depend on factors including:
device location;
manually selected location;
astronomical calculations;
configured calculation methods;
device compass and motion sensors;
date and time settings; and
device or network conditions.
Prayer-time calculations are intended to assist users and may include the jurisprudential precautions or explanatory information displayed within the App.
Qibla accuracy may be affected by magnetic interference, sensor calibration, device hardware, surroundings, or incorrect location information.
Calendar and worship information may depend on configured Hijri dates, local circumstances, and the religious methodology implemented by ShiaNūr.
Users should observe any applicable jurisprudential precautions shown in the App and consult an appropriate qualified religious authority where they require a ruling concerning their individual circumstances.
11. Availability
We strive to keep ShiaNūr available and functioning properly, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or continuous operation.
Maintenance, updates, technical issues, network conditions, device compatibility, third-party service interruptions, external data-source availability, security requirements, or circumstances beyond our reasonable control may temporarily affect some or all App functionality.
Certain features require an internet connection or access to third-party services. Features that depend on those services may be limited or unavailable if the relevant service is unavailable, changed, discontinued, restricted, or otherwise fails to respond.
We may modify, suspend, discontinue, replace, or restrict a feature where reasonably necessary for technical, security, legal, operational, or service-related reasons.
12. Updates
We may release updates, improvements, content updates, bug fixes, security patches, or new features at any time.
Some functionality may require you to update to the latest version of the App.
ShiaNūr may use update infrastructure, including Shorebird, to deliver certain app fixes and updates. Depending on your device and platform, other updates may be delivered through the Apple App Store, Google Play, or another authorized distribution channel.
Updates may modify, add, remove, repair, or replace functionality where reasonably necessary to maintain, secure, or improve the App.

13. Third-Party Services and Content
ShiaNūr relies on third-party services and external data sources to provide certain functionality.
Depending on the features you use, these may include services for:
authentication;
cloud storage and synchronization;
push notifications;
location and place-name lookup;
product and barcode information;
AI-assisted ingredient-text processing;
app updates;
Qurʾān recitation audio;
externally hosted content; and
other infrastructure necessary to operate the App.
Examples of services currently used by ShiaNūr are identified in our Privacy Policy.
Third-party services and external databases operate independently from SHIANUR DIGITAL LLC and may be subject to their own terms, privacy policies, licenses, availability, and technical limitations.
We do not control and cannot guarantee the completeness, continued availability, accuracy, or reliability of information supplied by independent third-party services.
Third-party product information, barcode records, geographic information, audio resources, and other externally sourced material may be changed, corrected, removed, delayed, or become unavailable without notice to us.
Nothing in ShiaNūr's use of a third-party service, database, product name, trademark, or other external resource implies sponsorship, affiliation, or endorsement unless expressly stated.
14. Disclaimer of Warranties
The App is provided on an “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” basis to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, SHIANUR DIGITAL LLC disclaims warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, reliability, availability, and uninterrupted or error-free operation.
Without limiting the foregoing, we do not warrant that:
the App will always be available or operate without interruption or error;
all third-party information will be complete, current, or accurate;
automated text or barcode recognition will always correctly identify a product or ingredient;
every product or ingredient will be recognized or included in the dietary database;
a third-party barcode record will always correspond to the exact formulation of the physical product in your possession;
location, Qibla, calendar, prayer-time, or other calculated or externally sourced information will be free from technical or source-data errors; or
every device will provide identical results due to differences in hardware, sensors, operating systems, permissions, and environmental conditions.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits warranties, guarantees, or consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded or limited under applicable law.
15. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, SHIANUR DIGITAL LLC and its officers, members, employees, contractors, and agents shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from or relating to your use of, reliance on, or inability to use the App or any feature, content, external service, or information made available through it.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, this includes loss or damage arising from:
interruption or unavailability of the App;
loss of locally stored information;
errors in third-party information;
inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or mismatched product records;
text-recognition or barcode-recognition errors;
device sensor or compass inaccuracies;
network or external-service failures; or
unauthorized use of your account resulting from circumstances outside our reasonable control.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, intentional misconduct, gross negligence where it cannot legally be limited, death or personal injury caused by negligence where applicable, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Nothing in these Terms affects mandatory consumer rights available to you under applicable law.
16. Suspension and Termination
We may restrict, suspend, or terminate access to your account, the App, community functionality, scanner services, or other specific features where reasonably necessary, including if:
you materially or repeatedly violate these Terms or applicable community rules;
you create, share, or transmit prohibited or objectionable content;
you harass, threaten, abuse, or harm other users;
you misuse product-reporting, scanner, shared-circle, or other interactive functionality;
you attempt to circumvent scanner usage limits, rate limits, security controls, or other technical restrictions;
your activity threatens the security, integrity, reliability, or availability of ShiaNūr;
your account is used for fraud, abuse, unauthorized automation, or malicious activity; or
we are required to restrict access by applicable law or a valid legal requirement.
Where appropriate and reasonably practicable, we may provide notice or an opportunity to correct a violation before permanent account termination. Serious abuse, security threats, unlawful activity, or circumstances requiring immediate action may result in restriction or termination without prior notice.
You may stop using ShiaNūr at any time and may request deletion of your account through the in-app account-deletion functionality.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including provisions concerning intellectual property, submitted materials, disclaimers, limitations of liability, governing law, and other provisions intended to continue — will remain applicable after termination.
17. Privacy
Your use of ShiaNūr is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains the categories of information processed by the App, purposes of processing, third-party service providers, retention practices, scanner data processing, account deletion, and your privacy choices and rights.

The Privacy Policy forms an important part of your relationship with ShiaNūr but does not reduce any rights available to you under applicable data-protection law.
18. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Lebanese Republic, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles, except where mandatory laws or consumer-protection rights applicable in your country or jurisdiction of residence provide otherwise.
Nothing in these Terms deprives you of mandatory protections or rights that cannot lawfully be waived under the laws applicable to you.
19. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms when ShiaNūr's functionality, services, community features, third-party integrations, legal requirements, or business practices change.
When we update these Terms, we will revise the Last Updated date shown at the top.
If a change materially affects your rights or obligations, we may provide additional notice through the App, our website, or another appropriate method.
Where applicable law requires affirmative consent to revised terms, we will request that consent.
Otherwise, your continued use of ShiaNūr after the revised Terms become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms to the extent permitted by applicable law.
20. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held by a court or other authority of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable, that provision will be interpreted or limited to the minimum extent necessary where legally permissible, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
21. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any additional terms or community rules expressly applicable to a particular ShiaNūr feature, constitute the agreement between you and SHIANUR DIGITAL LLC regarding your use of the App, except where applicable law provides otherwise.
If feature-specific terms or community rules conflict with these Terms, the feature-specific provisions apply to that feature to the extent of the conflict, unless otherwise stated.
