ShiaNūr is a worship companion rooted in Twelver Shia Islam and the teachings of the Ahl al-Bayt (ʿalayhim al-salām). It brings together prayer times, the Holy Qurʾān, duʿāʾ, ziyārāt, dhikr, the Hijri calendar and daily worship tools.

Yes. ShiaNūr is free to use, with no subscription, paywall or advertisements.

Search for “ShiaNūr” on the Apple App Store for iPhone and iPad, or on Google Play for Android.

The app supports Arabic, English and French, including right-to-left navigation in Arabic. You can choose your language during setup or change it in Settings.

You can read the Qurʾān, browse worship content and use core features without creating an account. Signing in lets you sync supported information between devices; online group features may require sign-in.

Much of the app works offline, including the Qurʾān text, bundled worship content and prayer calculations once your location is established. Download audio and other reading resources before travelling. Online search, new downloads, syncing and group activities need an internet connection.

ShiaNūr’s prayer guidance follows the published rulings of Sayyid Ali al-Sistani. Calculation references help determine the corresponding times for a location; they are not separate schools of religious law. For a ruling about your personal circumstances, consult your marjaʿ or a qualified scholar.

First check that both use the same location, date and event. Fajr and Ṣubḥ are different entries, as are sunset and Maghrib. Observation methods, precautions and saved minute adjustments can also affect the comparison.

If a difference remains, send us the app time and a copy or link to the trusted timetable you follow. We will investigate it.

Fajr is the dawn entry used for fasting onset. Ṣubḥ is the morning prayer entry with the applicable precaution, and is the time used for the morning Adhan. Imsak is an earlier preparation or precautionary entry.

They should not be treated as interchangeable. In particular, the later Ṣubḥ time is not an instruction to continue eating until the Adhan. Follow your marjaʿ’s guidance if the fasting boundary is uncertain.

The iPhone notification uses a short Adhan clip of about 29 seconds. Tap the notification to listen to the full recording inside the app. Automatic full-Adhan playback through iPhone silent mode is not currently offered.

Open Notifications & Reminders and check notification permission, the prayer’s alert switch and the selected sound. On Android, also check Alarms & reminders access and the specific Adhan notification channel’s sound settings. On iPhone, check Sounds, silent mode, Focus and Scheduled Summary.

If the problem continues, contact us with your phone model, operating-system version, app version and build, selected location, expected prayer time and approximate arrival time. High general volume alone does not rule out a muted notification channel.

Open Me → Settings → Notifications & Reminders to review your prayer, worship and calendar alerts. The controls available can differ by app version.

The in-app Notification Center also shows upcoming items and announcements. It is not a complete record of alerts delivered to your phone, and hiding a stream inside the app does not necessarily disable its phone notifications.

Yes. The Qurʾān reader includes translations, tafsir and audio recitation. Open the Qurʾān tab’s settings to choose available resources and your reciter. Some resources need an initial download before they can be used offline.

Yes. Press and hold a verse to open its options. A bookmark helps you return to a reading position; a favourite saves a verse to your collection. Your saved Qurʾān items are available in My Qurʾān.

A Khatma plan helps you complete the Qurʾān through manageable reading sessions. Open Qurʾān → Khatma to create a personal plan or explore group reading. Group plans use an internet connection to keep participants’ progress up to date.

Open the Worship tab to browse Duʿāʾ, Ziyārāt, Prayers, Dhikr and Aʿmāl. Today’s Worship brings together content for the current day. You can also use Ask ShiaNūr to find a specific item or learn where a feature is located.

A calculated Hijri calendar may differ from local moon-sighting determinations. Check the calendar’s Hijri adjustment setting and follow the date established by the religious authority you rely on. Report an apparent calendar or conversion error with both dates and a screenshot.

Sign in on your old phone and check Sync status before changing devices. Sign in with the same account on the new phone to restore supported synced information. Downloaded audio may need to be downloaded again. Confirm that your important items are present before erasing the old phone.

Email support@shianur.com, or open Me → Settings → Support & Contact. For a technical issue, include your phone model, operating-system version, app version and build, and the steps that led to the problem. Please do not send passwords or account credentials.

Yes. The updated location screen supports online search for cities, towns and regions in your language. For a governorate such as ذي قار / Dhi Qar, select your town within the region or use your current location. Known coordinates are another option. Search coverage depends on the place provider, so some spellings may need a country or region added.

Yes. The app provides Me → Settings → Prayer & Calendar → Fine-tune prayer times. You can adjust individual entries by up to 15 minutes earlier or later and use Reset to automatic to remove saved corrections. Adjusting Ṣubḥ does not redefine Fajr or fasting onset, and a correction cannot create an unavailable time.

If a particular prayer time cannot be established confidently in your location, the app explains the limitation and keeps the other established times available.

Check a trusted timetable for your actual location and follow your marjaʿ’s guidance. Do not substitute an unrelated city’s time or use a minute adjustment to fill a missing event.

Yes. Android offers an optional Automatic full adhan setting. Once the recording is prepared, it can play offline with the screen locked, plays once without vibration and stops when finished.

Play through silent mode is a separate opt-in. Full playback uses alarm volume, and Do Not Disturb or muted alarm volume can still prevent sound. Short notifications remain available.
